Fox-cubs were brought to the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” from the Chernihiv oblast. Local residents rescued them – set free from traps, rendered first aid, and then fostered them at home for over a week. All this time people tried to find a new home for foxes – a zoo or the Rehabilitation Centre, which would agree to take them. This story has already been covered by central media sources.
“Rusties are only 2 months old, it’s dangerous to release them incompletely recovered in nature, but people couldn’t keep them further at home. Alas, there wasn’t any place for the foxes in Kiev zoo. Fortunately, the Kharkiv Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” agreed to shelter animals — the Kiev veterinarian Igor Stepchenkov accompanying fox-cubs to Kharkiv told. — We hope that Nikita and Alice (these names the cubs got from their rescuers), will feel great. According to the local specialists, there is a chance that young foxes will return to the native habitat after rehabilitation. At least, The Good Home has an experience of such work”.
It should be noted that now the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” rehabilitates three more fox-cubs that were brought a few weeks ago by the volunteers. The resident of the Kharkiv oblast found them small hiding under the threshold and asked our animal protection activists for help. Foundlings were examined by the specialists of Feldman Ecopark Good Home, vaccinated and treated from parasites. The cubs have already grown up and got stronger, they look nourished, actively play. As animals are healthy and aren’t tame yet, we use special techniques helping cubs to procure nutrition independently and to avoid contact with the person. By autumn, they will be released to natural habitat.
