Feldman Ecopark Good Home Rehabilitates Badger Found at Saltivka

The animal protection activists reported to the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” about the badger found in Kharkiv on the outskirts of Saltivka. The forest animal got lost in the metropolis was taken on rehabilitation and it is planned to release the animal to the native habitat after some period of time.

“The badger was brought to us by volunteers of the Kharkiv animal protection organization. According to them, the animal was found in garage cooperative on Valentynivska Street — they used to get a badger from under a porch where the animal hid — the Head of the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” Iryna Podvoiska told. – Our veterinarians already examined the foundling and carried out all necessary procedures. It is a female, rather young and haven’t managed to become tame yet. After rehabilitation we will release it in a safe place – return to the wild nature”.

It should be noted that it’s not the first case of detection of forest animals within the city. Recently, children found a raccoon dog in the Southern Railway Museum during the tour – now the animal undergoes rehabilitation in Feldman Ecopark Good Home as well. The animal protection activists note that recently more and more representatives of wild fauna come to the city in search of food and in connection with reduction of quantity of dogs because of their irrevocable capture by municipal services. Similar cases are potentially dangerous as wild animals can be carriers of rage and other infectious diseases.
It should be reminded that the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” is engaged in animal protection since 2010. Its main tasks include the rescue of animals from cruel treatment, assistance to injured animals and the ones in trouble, the reduction of the number of stray animals with the help of humane methods. The total of more than 6,000 wild animals were rescued and nearly 22,000 pets found new home thanks to the Centre. The project is implemented under the auspices of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation.”
