All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” continues its work aimed at the introduction of the mechanism of control of the number of stray animals with the help of humane methods in the towns of Kharkiv oblast – the CSVR programme (capture, sterilization, vaccination, return to natural habitat), and the rules of domestic animal care. The Good Home’s head Iryna Podvoiska told that the serious success in this field is demonstrated by the town of Pervomaiskyi (Kharkiv oblast). A large-scale campaign called “Animal Fair: Find a Friend” has been carried out in the town recently with the participation of the representatives of the Feldman Ecopark Good Home.
“In Pervomaiskyi, we helped local animal protection volunteers to arrange the first sterilization operations, we carried out explanatory work, took part in a dialogue with local authorities, which eventually supported the CSVR method. A huge breakthrough was the opening of a sterilization station with operating room and comfortable enclosures for animals in the beginning of the year. It turned into the real centre for animal protection activity,” Iryna Podvoiska told. “As the result, more than 350 stray animals and domestic dogs and cats were sterilized, a home for 60% of operated stray animals was found, the volunteer animal protection movement actively revives, and the number of complaints about stray animals from citizens significantly reduced.”
The village of Staryi Saltov also demonstrated interest in the introduction of humane methods of work with stray animals. During the recent meeting with a village head Eduard Konovalov, the animal protection activists told about the efficiency of sterilization and complex approach to the solution of the issue of stray animals. The towns and villages, which introduce the CSVR method, include Liubotyn, Lozova, Merefa, Krasnohrad, Vovchansk, and Solonitsevka.
