The Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” continues its work aimed at the introduction of the mechanism of control of the number of stray animals with the help of humane methods in the towns of Kharkiv oblast – the CSVR programme (capture, sterilization, vaccination, return to natural habitat). In particular, the specialists of the Centre provided consultations on humane control of the number of stray animals to the management of territorial community in Merefa and Lozova.
“In Merefa the process of CSVR introduction continues, the premises for sterilization centre has been partly renovated. Moreover, according to the mayor of the town of Merefa, there is an interest from the neighboring towns so this sterilization centre, perhaps, will serve several settlements. But we also have some problems —the head of the Centre Iryna Podvoiska told. – We hope that in the nearest future the CSVR programme in Merefa will be launched and the results won’t be worse, than in the town of Pervomaisk where in its year of operation a number of stray animals attacks on people decreased by 87%”.
During round-table meeting in the town of Lozova the representatives of “Good Home” shared the experience with the local authorities and municipal services and could convince them on the advantages of the mechanism of control of the number of stray animals with the help of humane methods. The appropriate programe is already adopted and there is a hope that Lozova will shortly be among the settlements realizing the CSVR programme.
It should be also noted that since its opening, the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” rendered assistance to more than 22,000 domestic and wild animals. Besides sterilization and vaccination of stray animals the OSVV programme, which the Good Home helps to implement in towns of the Kharkiv oblast and other regions of Ukraine assumes wide-scale explanatory work among the citizens, preferential sterilization of pets and volunteer campaigns on rehoming of stray animals.
