Couple of the leopard cats – Barque and Bike settled in Feldman Ecopark. They arrived to Ecopark under the program of a free exchange of animals between zoological parks of Ukraine.
“Predators are in an excellent condition, we’ve already conducted their complete inspection and some procedures keeping immunity of animals up and protecting their organisms from parasites” — the veterinarian Feldman Ecopark Anna Zhukovskaya tells.
Employees Feldman Ecopark don’t venture to judge the character of Asian cats – the animals’ adaptation to a new habitat still proceeds. However, all Leopard cats are wild and proud animals. “Unlike domestic cats as we know them, these aren’t tamed” — experts explain.
In the meantime Barka and the Bike live in the quarantine room for predators. Shortly the couple will be moved to the new open-air cages and visitors will be able to look at them —is told in Ecopark.
Information: the leopard or Amur cat lives in the Far East, in a river basin Amur and along the coast of the Sea of Japan. Near the Lake Khanka the cat met on all habitable area. The leopard cat lives in couples or alone. Only during a breeding season some cats gather. This species is in danger of extinction: in Japan these animals are protected by the State, and in Russia they are listed in the Red List.
