Abandoned and betrayed by people: stories of Good Home rescued animals

Specialists and volunteers of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation, the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” daily obtain information on dogs, cats and other dumb animals who have got into a difficult situation and require immediate assistance and protection. They are being taken off the streets, brought up, vaccinated, their physical and mental wounds being cured. Stories of these animals are often very similar: many of them used to be domestic, but because of human cruelty, they ended up on the street where they had faint chances of surviving.

For example, Ryzhik was severely beaten and left for dead. When the Good Home specialists found a kitten, he was half-dead. However, Ryzhik not only survived, but also is able to enjoy life and hasn’t even lost faith in people though the kitten lost the sight from injuries.

The other kitten, Bianka, was also in a poor state of health (supposedly she was hit by a car). Nevertheless, Bianka was lucky, not indifferent girl found a kitten near the check-point of the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine and brought the injured animal to the neighboring veterinary hospital. Despite serious injuries and need of expensive treatment, Bianka has a good prospect of recovery.

The aged dog Misha felt deeply all the difficulties of this world like no other. Misha suffers from VBCs since birth, and in his elder years, he was twice hit by a car. The stray dog with special needs lived near the Akademika Pavlova underground station where he was cared by a yard keeper. In order to protect Misha from winter frosts, the woman let him stay in the shed for stock equipment. However, the animal required treatment, it’s hard to walk for him, he often has muscle spasms. Thanks to the assistance of our volunteers and 1.5 year treatment in the clinic Misha feels much better. He found home in “The Good Home” where the dog relearned to communicate both with people, and with other dogs who take care of the special friend.
Annushka’s life began in the local cellar and barely broke off because of an eye injury, which caused her much pain and pang. Now the cat is already operated and is on the mend, she is incredibly lovely and friendly.

Lola is a smart cat with a soft dense hair, a piercing glance and friendly temper. Despite the fact she went through treachery (she has been thrown out on the street together with the kittens), Lola hasn’t lost the ability to trust and to enjoy the company of a person.

The other example is Ditta. She is the real mother-heroine and just a wonderful nursling. She, as well as 17 her brothers and sisters in misfortune, went through house confinement after the owner’s death. In “The Good Home” Ditta not just gave birth and raised up a kitten, but also helped to bring up all kids foundlings. This process would have been much more difficult without her assistance.

Pedigree cats quite often get into trouble as well. Sofa, the British cat of a magnificent blue color. Nevertheless, it was thrown out in the forest together with her newborn kittens. Only thanks to the assistance of the volunteers, they grew up and almost all have already found new loving owners.
All these animals, despite the endured pain and sufferings, haven’t lost faith in people and dream of becoming domestic.
