Oleksandr Feldman: “Rumors about possible escalation of tension in Kharkiv are strongly exaggerated …”

Rumors about possible escalation of tension in Kharkiv are strongly exaggerated and arise because of unscrupulous statement citing in media which are heard from Kiev. At the same time the phrase “if to do nothing, then …” “unintentionally” drops out of the text.

The Kharkiv region is the territory bordering both with the neighbor state, and with the combat zone. It is necessary to be vigilant. In fact, we have several active safety and counter-terrorism programs adopted by the regional government. I’m sure, their fulfillment is provided with all necessities.

There are no signs of the fact that this or that political force wishes destabilization of the situation in the region today. The population also doesn’t have similar sentiments.

Certainly, people are closely monitoring the government activities. It’s obvious to the democratic country. Today, more than ever, the result of reforms, citizens’ living standards and the prospect of state development depend on effective management, and you shouldn’t mix criticism of these or those government decisions with “separatism” and “destabilization”.

At the same time, I would like to emphasize once again that the Kharkiv region enters top-5 Ukraine regions with steadily high industrial and agrarian rates and, respectively, with a high contribution to the country’s gross domestic product and to the State budget content.

Therefore frightening radical campaigns under nationalist or discrimination slogans (for example, on language or ethnic grounds) are absolutely inappropriate here. There is a wish to exclaim: whom do you want to frighten of these campaigns – civilians or probable investors?

While Kharkiv and region have enormous potential and are attractive to investments, it’s like cutting the chicken capable to lay gold eggs. Our citizens love and know how to work for the good of their country, appreciate the peace, tranquility and prosperity.
