The People’s Deputy Oleksandr Feldman commented on the introduction in the parliamentary group “People’s Will” on his Facebook page.
“At today’s meeting of the Verkhovna Rada the speaker announced my decision to join the parliamentary group “People’s Will”. Being the majoritarian deputy who went to the parliament thanks to support of voters, but not to the place in “the upper part of the election list “, I want to share with Kharkiv citizens the motives of my decision. I consider the main objective of the People’s Deputy is effective lawmaking and defending of the voter interests, – Oleksandr Feldman noted. – Unfortunately, the realities of current Ukrainian parliament are such that it is much more difficult for non-affiliated deputies to realize the initiatives. Often their bills aren’t even entered in the order-paper, let alone collecting 226 votes. It is necessary to unite in order to punch through this wall”.
According to the politician, he was guided by this in December, 2014, having joined the interfractional group “For Kharkiv! For Slobozhanshchina!” including 5 members. “If all Kharkiv deputies followed my example, then in parliament there would be a full fraction advocating the interests of the region already now. Nevertheless, it didn’t happen for various reasons. In two split years I came to a conclusion that having joined one of fractions, I will be able to bring to the voters more benefit, than being the non-affiliated deputy, – Oleksandr Feldman emphasized. – Why, exactly, “People’s Will”? The first time I had been elected to Parliament from my native division in 2002. During 14 years I’d seen many different fractions, batches, deputies. Whether I consider “People’s Will” to be the best option available? Certainly, I do. Its structure contains the majoritarian deputies who are accountable to their voters in the divisions, but not to political bosses in Kiev. Such position is close to me, and I count on constructive work with new colleagues”.
