“Perhaps the environmental topics are not so interesting for the mass media as the hot scandals, but the next generations will be grateful to us exactly for the conservation of Ukrainian nature. And everyone is able to make own feasible contribution in this field.” — the Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman commented on adoption of two bills of ecological orientation on April 3 on his Facebook page.
“Tuesday evening in the Verkhovna Rada passed under the sign of environmental policy, and I am glad that the environmental issues are not ignored by the Parliament. 259 lawmakers helped to give approval in principle to the bill No. 6749 prohibiting the continuous clearance of fir and beech forests on the slopes of the Carpathian Mountains. The relevant moratorium was in force in Ukraine, but in 2011, it was revoked. As the result, there was not just some abstract deterioration of the general environmental background, but the regular annual floods, which required millions of budgetary funds for the relief. We literally kill the goose that lays the golden egg. It is time to put an end to this absurd position with the help of the special law. — the politician emphasized. — Moreover, thanks to 229 votes, the amendments to the law No. 6530 On Environmental Protection were passed. They extend the possibility to carry out the ecological assessment by the State Ecological Inspection and its territorial departments. Thanks to the colleagues for the efficient work.”
