Ukrainian MP, the chairman of the interfactional union “The parliamentary group of friendship between Ukraine and the State of Israel” Oleksandr Feldman expressed condolences in connection with the death of the former Prime Minister and the President of Israel Shimon Peres. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“The death of Shimon Peres is a grievous loss not only for Jewish people, but for the whole world as well. His name will be in the world history forever, as the name of a person who participated in the establishment of the State of Israel, and, first of all, as the name of a person who made a lot for reconciliation and achievement of peace in the region. Peres made a huge contribution into the development of good relations between Ukraine and Israel,” the politician emphasized. “I am very grateful for having the opportunities to meet him many times, to communicate with him and to feel the wisdom of this great man. I express my sincere condolences to the relatives and close people, and to the people of Israel in connection with the grievous loss.”
It should be reminded that Shimon Peres died on the night of September 28 at the age of 93. He was born on August 2, 1923 in the town of Wiszniewo (Valozhyn powiat, Navahrudak province, Poland, today – Minsk oblast, Belarus). His family moved to the territory of Israel in 1934. He was a member of the Knesset of Israel for many years, elected continually from 1959 to 2007. He was a minister in 12 cabinets of ministers of Israel. He was the ninth and the twelfth Prime Minister of Israel (1984-1986 and 1995-1996), and the ninth President of the State of Israel from July 2007 to July 2014.
