Oleksandr Feldman commented on heat pipeline accident in Kharkiv

Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman commented on his Facebook page on the heat pipeline accident that happened on Tahanska Str. in Kharkiv on April 18.

“Another accident happened in Kharkiv – the collapse of a heat pipeline. The streets are covered with hot water, a shop was left without windows, and the dwellers of the nearest houses have no hot water at all. It’s a good thing that there were no victims. It is my district – Kholodnohirskyi district. Last months, something similar happened with the residents of Nemyshlianskyi district,” the politician noted. “Are the problems of certain districts, regions interesting only to the residents of these districts, regions? Perhaps. But the thing is that today, the whole of Ukraine is a huge Kholodnohirskyi district from the point of view of wear and tear on the utility infrastructure. Yes, local residents and local authorities are the first ones to be interested in the absence of damages and accidents on heat pipeline. But it is the problem of such a large scale that it is just impossible to solve it alone.”

According to his words, it is necessary to develop a multilevel algorithm of how the country’s engineering networks will be upgraded. For each level – from housing cooperatives to the national government – the specific tasks and deadlines must be defined, as well as the sources and mechanisms of fund raising.

“I have put forward an initiative earlier to make the amendments to the city’s budget and to increase expenditures on repairing/replacement of heat pipelines. It is necessary to do this. But that’s not the end. I urge all of my colleagues, lawmakers, to join the efforts in the solution of this problem. It concerns everyone. It may collapse anywhere,” Oleksandr Feldman emphasized.
