The Amur tiger cubs – two males and two females were born in Feldman Ecopark. Delilah and Banzai, the old inhabitants of the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex became parents. Kids live in a lodge together with their mother and sometimes go out for a walk to the enclosure.
“Delilah gave birth four times already. She is the real mother-heroine – in total, she brought more than ten tiger cubs. Her descendants live in different zoos through the whole country. New addition will also participate in the programmes for preservation of endangered animal species under the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and in the programmes of the World Open Foundation for Animal Rehabilitation and Reintroduction as well. The negotiations to what zoological collections our tiger cubs will get when they grow up are already under way. The arrangement of conditions for successful breeding of the Amur tigers is one of the brightest achievements of our animal protection activity”, – in Feldman Ecopark told.
It should be noted that the Amur tiger is the largest, north most and the rarest subspecies of tigers. He is included in the IUCN Red List of threatened species. Less than 1,000 individuals remained in the wild nature.
It should be reminded that the Feldman Ecopark’s animal collection comprises three adult Amur tigers and two Bengalese (white) tigers. In total, more than 2,000 animals of 300 species live here, including many representatives of fauna from the IUCN Red List. Preservation of the gene pool of fauna species under the threat is the important direction of the work of the World Open Foundation for Animal Rehabilitation and Reintroduction (WOFARR). The financing is based on the funds obtained by the campaign “The Art of Mercy” as well.
