The marbled polecat saved by good people found home in the Regional Landscape Park Feldman Ecopark. This small animal, similar to ferret, became the first four-footed foundling of the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” in 2017. “The marbled polecat’s cub whose mother got hit by the train was found near the railroad by not indifferent people. They took him home, nursed and brought the ferret up for certain time and then, having contacted our rescue service, brought the cub here — the deputy director Feldman Ecopark Valeriia Ivashchenko told. – The foundling’s name is Tigra – it has a similar coloring. This is the boy, aged of about a year. Our veterinarians have already examined the cub and carried out all necessary procedures. Now the marbled polecat undergoes rehabilitation, gets used to the new house, gets aqcuainted with keepers”.
According to the staff of our veterinary service, Tigra feels good and has perfect appetite. We feed him with meat and crude eggs — in the nature this predator of Mustelidae family hunts small rodents and birds. For the present it is the only representative of marbled polecats in the Feldman Ecopark, but here it will surely find the girlfriend soon.
It should be reminded that near 2,000 animals of 200 species lives currently in the Feldman Ecopark. There are also other Mustelidae representatives among them – about a dozen of polecats and ferrets. Also it should be noted that the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” works more than three years. During this period the specialists of the Service helped more than 2 thousand animals.
