The XII European championship for modern pentathlon in “Masters” category was held last week in Kharkiv. The International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman’s Foundation” and the Feldman Ecopark became partners of the international competitions of high level held in our city.
According to Igor Panin, the president of Modern Pentathlon Federation of Ukraine, it was decided to hold the championship in Kharkiv, considering achievements of the Kharkiv pentathlonists veterans and positive experience of the All-Ukrainian tournaments for modern pentathlon here. 65 athletes from 13 countries participated in the competitions; the representatives of Ukraine took a significant part in 5 weight categories.
According to Sharon Saleh, the member of the Master’s Council of the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, the tournament in Kharkiv was highly organized. “I’m deeply impressed with the level of the organization and holding of the European competitions in Kharkiv. The organizers took into account every little thing. Perfect infrastructure, and, above all, pleasant and hospitable people” — she emphasized.
“Within the frameworks of our long-term project 1,000 Teams Tournament we are engaged in development and support different sports – both for children and young people, amateurs and professionals. The European tournament in Kharkiv is an opportunity to declare our city and the country on the international scene. Therefore, we decided to render the financial and organizational assistance for these competitions. We are glad that the competitions were held at high level.” — the director of ICF “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation” Oleksandr Feldman noted.
We will note that the modern pentathlon athletes compete in fencing, swimming, riding, run and shooting. The athletes participate in competitions in “Masters” category over the age of 30 years.
