Oleksandr Feldman starts roundtable discussion with foreign and Ukrainian experts to talk about problems of election law in the country.
A people’s deputy of Ukraine, a co-chairperson of a political party ‘Nash Kray’ Oleksandr Feldman is going to arrange roundtable discussion and talk about difficulties of election process in the country and solutions. This is what the member of parliament told journalists in the process of briefing in the Media center ‘Time’.
‘I would like to engage foreign lawyers and dedicated experts of our country to solving problems we had to face in the process of election campaign, Oleksandr Feldman stated. ‘I will hold several roundtable discussions in Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv and other cities, in order to collect expert opinions and develop a draft law hereunder, which would clearly define violations of the election process and provide a proper punishment for those who decided to avoid following them’.
Lets remind that shortly before elections the unknown printed and distributed several sets of leaflets in Kharkiv, which discredited names of deputies of the party “Nash Kray”. This case is currently being investigated by law enforcement bodies of the city.
‘It is important for you to realize that no matter how much we talk about immorality of people dealing with smear campaign in Kharkiv nowadays, they remain to be unpunished and they will surely do this again’, Oleksandr Feldman thinks. ‘By showing that such actions lead to severe punishment, schemes of ‘smear campaign’ and similar methods influencing electorate will be stopped. We still have to prove that Ukraine is, first of all, a democratic and tolerant country, where everybody is free to express their own opinion, and the electorate has rights to get reliable information about candidates and their political force’.
