Nikolina Bakumenko’s Exhibition “Metamorphoses” is to Open in AVEC Gallery

The exhibition “Metamorphoses” will be opened in the AVEC Gallery on January 31, at 6 p.m. Nikolina Bakumenko’s art studio will present new photo pictures.

Kharkiv resident Nikolina Bakumenko is one of the most interesting and bright modern artists in Ukraine. She holds exhibition actively since 2005, and her works may be found in private collections not only in Ukraine, but also in Spain, Canada, Russia, France, and other countries. Some say, that the iconic actor Pierre Richard is among the connoisseurs of Nikolina Bakumenko’s works, as he decorated his mansion with her canvases.

The talented author became famous after the series of works depicting famous people in unusual decorations. Nikolina Bakumenko created “celebrity elves:” Elizabeth II, Nicolas Sarkozy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Andrii Shevchenko, Klitschko brothers and many others.

The creative style of Nikolina Bakumenko was called by arts critics and journalists as “parasymbolism” emphasizing that it is based on the artistic interpretation of the theory about “parallel universe.”

“The artists displays on canvas the mystery of interplay by combining the main character of parallel universe with paradoxical objects and attributes. She puts a hidden meaning in each image, as well as symbolic signs peculiar only to the depicted character,” the critics note.

Nikolina Bakumenko has been working in new genre for the recent several years. She replaced brush and palette with camera and unique decorations. With the help of new tools, the author creates “live tales” – photo pictures, on which children become the heroes of magic stories. The latest ones may be found in the AVEC Gallery (2nd floor) – Metamorphoses exhibition will be open till the middle of February.

AVEC Gallery (70, Sumska Str.) is open for the visitors every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
