Ceremony of water blessing and dipping in ice-hole, folk fortune telling and other Christmas entertainments. Last weekend in Feldman Ecopark was devoted to the Baptism of Jesus.
On Saturday, January 19, when the orthodox world celebrates one of the most important holy days, water blessing ceremony was held for the visitors to the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex. Traditionally, the priest Oleksandr of the Solonitsevka’s Church of the Holy Dormition held a festive solemn service with water blessing ceremony at the central location of Feldman Ecopark. Fans of winter bathing dipped in ice-hole in the territory of Three Lakes.
The long-standing folk tradition connected with the Baptism of Jesus is fortune telling. The Gypsy Rada and her assistant Petia the Rooster, in the Festive Fortune-Telling programme suggested Feldman Ecopark’s visitors to take a look into the future. Rada collected various comic, but intriguing predictions in a magic pot around which drove a round dance. Petia chose a person from a round dance whose turn to get out a message about the future from a pot.
The holiday continued on Sunday with an entertainment programme “Christmas Amusement”, which took place at four locations and included Festive Fortune-Telling with already known Gypsy Rada and Petia the Rooster, a game “Guess a Melody” with bayan-player uncle Vova and beauty Yana, and “5 Letters” and “Who am I?” (tintamarresque) games.
On Saturday, the Theatre of Children and Animals Feldman Ecopark gave training lessons, and on Sunday surprised the audience with a premiere of a fairy-tale “Magic Walking Stick of Santa Claus.”
As usual, during the weekend the guests to Feldman Ecopark rode an ice hill with a free tubing, danced, were treated with hot drinks and tasty porridge (also free of charge), participated in the programme “Too Much Dance Won’t Spoil a Porridge.”
