Feldman Ecopark has become a partner for the Feeling Blues Festival, which will take place in Kharkiv on September 22-23.
This Ukraine’s unique cultural event will unite “Blues King” B.B. King’s daughter Rita King Washington, world famous American musicians Bob Margolin and William Peel Jr., as well as Oleksandr Dolhov from Kharkiv (frontman of Dozhd band) who was the first musician from Eastern Europe to join the US Blues Hall of Fame and was titled “Ambassador of Blues.” The festival is organized by the NGO “State and Me” under the support of the Embassy of the USA to Ukraine.
“We have common values with the organizers of the festival: we are united with both the wish to develop culture and the social orientation, as the entrance into the festival, as well as in our Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex is free of charge. That is why we decided to unite our efforts for as many Kharkiv residents and guests of the city from other regions as possible to be able to join this holiday of blues,” they emphasized in Feldman Ecopark. “After all, blues is a wonderful music and the visit of world famous figures of blues to Kharkiv is a very important event not only for our city, but for the whole of Ukraine as well.”
Within the framework of the festival devoted to the birthday of the legendary musician B.B. King, on September 22, the territory of the Art-Plant Mechanics (126, Plekhanivska Str.) will turn into the location for music history lectures, master classes, jam sessions, entertaining programmes, special photo zones and food courts starting from noon, while the concert of Ukrainian blues performers and guests with live music video filming with the participation of audience will start at 6 p.m.
The press conference with American guests will take place in the media centre “Vremia” (72, Sumska Str.) starting at 4 p.m.
On September 23, Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv (2, Nezalexhnosti Pr.) will host a forum “Cultural Outpost,” the main topic of which is “Protection of Culture as a Philosophy of State Policy and Personal Life.” Among its participants are Rita King Washington, William Peel Jr., the representatives of local authorities and local self-government, as well as cultural and show business figures. 4 working panel are planned: “Culture as a Value,” “Copyright,” “Cultural Product and Cultural Figure as a Brand” and “Cultural Communities and Cultural Spaces.” While the press centre Kharkiv Today (8, Myronosytska Str.) will be the location for the presentation of Rita King Washington’s book “On the Road with My Dad the King of the Blues Mr. B.B. King.”
The entrance into all of the events of the festival is free.
