On Sunday, August 26, the medieval settlement “Prince’s Sloboda” will open its doors for the visitors to Feldman Ecopark (the Art Picnic’s location). The entrance is free. The location is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The settlement was created by historical re-enactors in form of a mobile fortification called wagon fort. Inside, there is a camping, where the visitors are able to travel to the heroic times of Kievan Rus. Here they will find thematic locations and photo zones, the opportunity to try on the costume of a medieval citizen or knight’s armour, to shoot a bow, to try to throw a spear and darts. The little and adult daring fellows will be able to cross swords after putting soft protection on.
The representatives of the club of historical reconstruction of the Middle Ages “Kniaz” will become the instructors and guides for the “time travelers.” They will give master classes on shield and sword mastering – the warriors in heavy armour will fight one on one, two on two and will even have a line fight in the spectacular buhurt. In addition, a trick riding performance with the participation of powerful the Percherons will take place at the hippodrome.
According to the creators of the Prince’s Sloboda settlement, it will be open till cold weather every day, and the special programme will be waiting for the visitors every weekend.
“We want to make a full-blown interactive open-air museum of medieval culture. It will be possible to find a lot of authentic everyday elements here, field kitchen with food prepared on fire, artisan fair, knight’s tournaments, the performances by minstrels, jugglers and many other thing,” the administrator of the club of historical reconstruction of the Middle Ages “Kniaz” Fedir Katykhin shared his plans. “Moreover, everyone is able to plunge into the Middle Ages as much as possible by staying in the camp “Prince’s Sloboda” for several days without any modern gadgets and blessings of civilization.”
