The First Open Biathlon Championship of the Kharkiv region among young people will take place in Feldman Ecopark on June 9. According to the head of the Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club Svitlana Ilyinskikh, these are the first biathlon competitions in Kharkiv over recent decades. The organizers are the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex Feldman Ecopark and Biathlon Federation of the Kharkiv region, the tournament will be held under the patronage of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation” within the project 1,000 Teams Tournament.
“Biathlon is on the upswing in Kharkiv region, biathlon sections opened both in Kharkiv, and in areas. Nearly 100 young athletes from Kharkiv, Volchansk, Chuhuiv, Parkhomivka and Kostiantynivka (Krasnokutsk district) have been already registered in our competitions. Winners will gain medals, diplomas and gifts. It will be interesting not only to participants, but also to sport fans who will be able to participate in thematic competitions, to do some shooting in a shooting zone, to take photos with a rifle in a photo zone and to receive mementos. It will be a real biathlon in the favorite city, feel like the real biathlonists together with us!” — Svitlana Ilyinskikh emphasized.
The competitions will be held in three age categories: children born in 2004-05 will come to a cross-country distance (2,4 km) with two shooting stages, children born in 2006-07 – to 2,1 km distance with two shooting stages, children born in 2008 and younger – to 1,4 km distance with one shooting stage.
Numerous guests from the city capital among whom the president of Biathlon Federation of Ukraine, Ukraine National Team head coach, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and other profile organizations plan to visit Feldman Ecopark during the preparation and conduct phases of the First Open Biathlon Championship of the Kharkiv region.
The culture and entertainment biathlon programme starts in the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex from 10:00, the opening ceremony will begin at 10:30, competition races will take place from 11:00 to15:00, and the medal ceremony will start at 15:30.
It should be reminded that Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club was opened in 2016 and became one of the most popular directions of the project 1,000 Teams Tournament. More than 70 children aged 6 -15 years train in the Club. The trainings are free of charge and take place three times a week.
