Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman presented the collection of mollusk shells to the National Museum of Natural History. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“The most tempting thing for any collector is to get hold of a rare and unique specimen.
From this point of view, Xenophora pallidula mollusk shell is a safe choice, because the shell of any animal is absolutely unique. Mollusk creates its shell using the improvised materials, like the coral fragments or stones. And it is possible to find out about the whole course of life of a mollusk to the last detail by just watching the shell. It is obvious that the particles of civilizations appear in these shells more and more frequently. The matter is in the glass fragments, pull tabs from beverage cans and so on. It is a very clear illustration of the degree of the ocean’s deterioration. Caused by no one else but us, people,” he wrote. “Today, I gave the part of my shell collection, including several specimens of Xenophora pallidula, as a gift to the National Museum of Natural History.
