The delegation of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee headed by the MP Oleksandr Feldman works in the USA from December 4 to 11.
“The purpose of our visit is to strengthen relations between Ukraine and the USA, to develop the plan of further actions, and to inform our friends about the situation in Ukraine,” Mr. Feldman noted.
In particular, the parliamentarian met with the President of the World Jewish Congress Ronald Lauder, the head of the Global interfaith council “Religions for Peace” William Vendley, the American Cardinal prelate of the Catholic Church Timothy Dolan, the congressman and the member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Ted Deutch, and the influential American investor Michael Steinhardt.
“We need the construction of the efficient cooperation between Ukraine and the USA at the level of the institutions of civil society and interfaith dialogue,” Mr. Feldamn emphasized commenting the meetings. “We see that our American partners are interested to obtain as detailed information about the situation in our country as possible, and we also see their readiness to help by all means.”
According to the politician, the current key issues for the USA in the support of Ukraine are the maintenance of the international sanctions, the provision of assistance within the defence budget of the US, the crediting within cooperation with the IMF and the US Government.
“In addition, we hope to get assistance in the release of Ukrainian hostages taken by terrorists and the illegally detained citizens of Ukraine,” the politician emphasized.
According to his words, the visit showed that “America is a real friend and partner for Ukraine that can be rely on in times of need.”
