A long-expected start of the season of winter sports in the Regional Landscape Park was marked with the celebration of the World Snow Day and the presentation of Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club.
On Sunday, young visitors to Feldman Ecopark were fascinated with “Snow Whirl” carried out at the main location. It was a cheerful entertaining programme for children, which took part in active games and carried out funny tasks. The adults were offered to attend a photo zone and to take photos in snowboarder image.
Of course, the main event took place at the green location, where the World Snow Day, or the International Day of Winter Sports, was celebrated, and Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club was presented. Young skiers demonstrated their remarkable sports skills, and the special exhibition showed the medals and cups won by the Club’s members. Although the Ski and Biathlon Club was opened in Feldman Ecopark not so long ago, thanks to its athletes, it has already managed to win a significant amount of prizes and awards.
In addition, young athletes were able to try hand in the new kind of ski sport – skijoring – when a skier is pulled by one or a team of sled dogs.
At the main path, the sled dogs, Alaskan Malamute and retriever, gave a sled ride. And everyone was able to gather around samovar to drink a tasty tea with honey and cracknels.
“We are glad that winter has finally come to us and we are able to really go in for winter sports. Moreover, the 3rd Sunday of January is the World Snow Day, which is aimed at the popularization of winter sports and active life-style,” the programme’s organizers emphasize.
The World Snow Day is celebrated since 2012 on the initiative of the International Ski Federation (FIS) under the slogan “Explore – Enjoy – Experience!”
It should be reminded that Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club, which was opened in October 2016, is one of the directions of the 1,000 Teams Tournament project. Last season, young athletes of the Club were the active participants at various municipal and regional competitions, where they won medal places. Moreover, they represented Feldman Ecopark in the team of Kharkiv oblast at the national championship.
