During winter vacation, young biologists of the Children’s Ecology and Nature Study Academy of the Feldman Ecopark visited Western Ukraine. They went there at the behest of colleagues from the Lviv State Ecology and Nature Centre with which the Kharkiv citizens cooperate for the third year running. Except study tours, experience exchange, collective lessons in greenhouse and a mini-zoo the program of a trip also included field researches.
“The travel lasted 8 days in which children could learn much and visited amazing places. We visited the Carpathian National Nature Park and its enclosure farm in Yaremche. Children admired unforgettable mountains and falls, observed the habits of hoofed animals and birds, have seen the difference between the unique local coniferous plant of Abies and habitual to us fir-trees and pines — the head of the Club of biologists of the Children’s Academy Feldman Ecopark Anna Pozdnyakova told. – This is not our first expedition, and it has significantly expanded the understanding of a biocoenosis of Carpathians Mountains. In the summer our young naturalists studied an ecosystem in the Skole Beskids for two weeks, and now have been able to get acquainted with unique flora and fauna of this region during the winter period”.
The Lviv State Ecology and Nature Centre is one of numerous permanent partners of Children’s Ecology and Nature Study Academy of the Feldman Ecopark. It should be reminded that the Academy is the non-governmental organization of out-of-school children’s education, largest in Ukraine. It includes about ten directions, clubs, classes and circles attended by more than 1000 children aged from 4 up to 18 years.
