The shepherd with the paralyzed hinder legs has been saved in the middle of November by compassionate Kharkiv citizens and undergoes rehabilitation in the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home”. The animal was provided with veterinary assistance, examined and got a special wheelchair for movement. Now a dog named Aina feels much better – it eats well and already undertakes walks by means of the new vehicle. The veterinary specialists claim that being given proper care, the shepherd will recover and will get back on feet by spring. The only thing the dog needs is a new loving and responsible owner to whom it will serve truly.
“Aina’s story is dramatic and optimistic at the same time. It was found in the middle of November near the Kharkiv circular road. The dog was on the edge between life and death. When it saw people, it turned to them, dragging hinder legs. Most likely, it was just thrown out, brought to the forest and left for dead —the head of the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” Iryna Podvoiska told. – Fortunately, the shepherd was picked up by kind people, they provided assistance, brought the dog to the veterinary hospital, and contacted us. Many people took part in dog rescue: helped financially, helped with transport and creation of a wheelchair, etc. — thank all of you so much”.
The specialists of the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” take care of the shepherd. Twice a day, sometimes even more frequently, they make medical and recovery walks in the forest. A dog is very friendly and needs communication with people and physical culture as much as good food and medicine.
“Now Aina feels more and less safely: it has no irreversible pathologies, and paws are immobilized because of osteochondrosis (because of the dog’s age and incorrect attendance) and, we hope, it will recover soon — Iryna Podvoiska emphasized. — The shepherd is middle-aged, probably, it became a burden to someone it served true to salt, and it is the saddest page in the story of Aina. But, thank God, this page is already turned, and we all believe in happy continuance”.
It should be reminded that a wheelchair-using dog Stephen underwent rehabilitation in the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home”. It was brought to us with the diagnosed pelvic fracture as a result of road accident. In the fall of this year Stephen found new loving owners and moved to their house where it has already accustomed and is able to move without a wheelchair.
It should be also reminded that since the work of the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” its specialists and volunteers have already found new owners for about 18, 000 pets and rescued more than 4,000 wild animals.
