Recently, a badger Vasia was brought in the Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” . It was redeemed from captivity by animal activists from All-Ukrainian fund to assist otters “Zhittya” (which already cooperated earlier with Feldman Ecopark — transferred the salvaged mottled polecat Tigra). They told that they found information on Vasia in the Internet where it was sold, perhaps, for training of dogs. The badger salvaged from so unfortunate fate was handed out to the Feldman Ecopark, it was examined and placed on a quarantine. The animal will stay there for the next two weeks – our veterinarians will treat it (the animal’s pad is slightly wounded), will make blood test and other necessary procedures: vaccination, deworming, etc.
“The badger, apparently, wasn’t born in captivity and came to people from the wild. It’s an adult and we will try to return it to the native habitat after rehabilitation if the opportunity permits — the deputy director Feldman Ecopark Valeriia Ivashchenko told. — If we don’t manage to find rather safe place in one of reserves, Vasia will live in Feldman Ecopark. We’ll create the necessary conditions and find girlfriend for it”.
It should be reminded that the Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” is engaged in rehabilitation of various representatives of fauna suffered from people. In the future part of them is released into the nature, and the others remain to live in the Regional Landscape Park or at other responsible and skilled animal activists.
