There is a long-awaited replenishment in the Feldman Ecopark: the gentleman Gesha arrived to our young genet girl. The unusual animal was transferred in the Ecopark by his owners who kept a genet at home. The yesterday’s amusing cub grew up and began to demand special care and to show the affiliation of the lady. Having found out that a genet female already lives in the Feldman Ecopark, Gesha’s owners suggested to shelter him.
According to veterinary service Feldman Ecopark, the two-year-old boy undergoes the last necessary procedures and in March will be ready to meet the potential bride and all guests.
“The conducted examinations, fortunately, didn’t reveal any violations in genet’s health. We’ve already composed a special diet which will further help to keep an animal in excellent form — the deputy director Feldman Ecopark Valeriia Ivashchenko says. — Now the handsome actively strains at meat and eggs. Also we indulge the newcomer with fruit and vegetables”.
It should be noted that genets represent a class of carnivores (Viverridae family). Usually they live in African rainforests and savannas, sometimes meet in Spain and France. Geneta are easily tamed: Africans often use them in economy for destruction of mice and rats. In the early Middle Ages the Europeans liked to keep genets at their houses but over time cats gained their glory.
