The Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman will submit the bill on the incorporation of Embassy of Ukraine in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“I want to explain my position on vote in the UN against Israel. I`m genuinely sorry about the accident. Both the vote, and the fact that Ukraine didn’t abstain, and the cancellation of our prime minister visit. Many years I and my colleagues work for development of the relations between our countries and we achieved a lot. It is both visa-free entrance, and decline in air travel prices, and support of Ukraine by Israel, etc. Certainly, the consequences of our vote disappointed Israelis and strongly undermined all that has been achieved” — the politician noted.
“But I want to think of the future. Therefore I consider that we, Ukrainians, must remedy this situation. The moving of Embassy of Ukraine in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will become the best decision which will entirely exhaust diplomatic row and will move our relations to the absolutely new level.” — Oleksandr Feldman declared. — Therefore I will bring in a bill to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine immediately as soon as the Rada resume work in the new year”.
Let’s remind that the UN Security Council adopted on December 23 the resolution which calls on Israel to cease constructing these settlements in the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. The resolution was supported by 14 of 15 Security Council members including Ukraine. In response, Israel reduced contacts with representatives of these countries; in particular, the visit to Israel of the prime minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman was cancelled.
