O. Feldman demands careful investigation of attacks on Kharkiv doctors

Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman put the deputy’s inquiries to the Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov and to the head of the Main Administration of the National Police in Kharkiv oblast Anatolii Dmytriiev with the request to take the investigation of the aggressive patient’s attack on doctors under their personal control. He also addressed to the city’s authorities with the request to explain what measures have been taken to protect the doctors in our city. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“An egregious incident happened at A.I. Meshchaninov Kharkiv City Clinical Hospital for Emergency Medical Care, where the doctors became the victims of an aggressive patient’s attack. Unfortunately, this situation is not single. The incidents of attacks on people working in medical institutions – in polyclinics, hospitals and first-aid stations became more frequent in Kharkiv,” Oleksandr Feldman emphasized. “It is very unpleasant to state that the government is not able not just to create proper working conditions and remuneration for doctors, but also it is not able to guarantee their safety. I am sure that similar incidents should not be ignored. People who attacked the doctors must be punished according to the law. The law-enforcement agencies must carry out careful investigation and take the case to court.”

It is indicated in the text of inquiry that a patient was taken to the hospital after the road traffic accident on September 22. He was taken to the operating room to suture a wound, but he started to threaten medical staff there. After he was asked to stop, he beat the resuscitation specialist Yevhen Androsov up and broke the doctor’s leg. A surgeon Denys Chyrkov tried to detain an escaping hooligan, but also was beaten up by the patient and his companions. Both doctors undergo treatment now. Yevhen Androsov was operated. He stays in the resuscitation department in grave condition. Denys Chyrkov got moderately severe injuries and undergoes out-patient treatment.
