Local councils in Kharkiv must represent interests of different political forces and social groups. This is exactly what will help avoid turning Kharkiv into a barricade city, where only strong and aggressive people are right.
This subject was mentioned by a people’s deputy of Ukraine, a co-chairperson of a political party ‘Nash Kray’ Oleksandr Feldman in his interview in the Focus magazine.
According to him, a severe separation of people into faceless majority and weak opposition is disastrous for both the city and the country.
‘Existence of several strong fractions reduces risks of coup d’etat and makes politicians look for a compromise’, the deputy assured.
‘It must be clear that local elections are not the final ‘battle between good and evil’, but a battle for an opportunity to represent electorate’s interests”.
