The unique exhibition “The Friend’s Image” opens in the AVEC Gallery on September 23, at 4 P.M. It will consist of the masterpieces of animalistic bronze plastic art from the collection of Oleksandr Feldman. The aim of the exhibition is not only to demonstrate the works of the world-known sculptors of the period from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, but also to promote the development of humane and responsible attitude of Ukrainian society towards all living creatures. The main and, as a matter of fact, the single hero of the exposition is a dog, which is a generally recognized symbol of fidelity and devotion, and one of the most favourite and widespread images in animalistic art.
The exhibition includes 78 bronze sculptures, while the circle of exhibitors covers over 40 authors of different nationalities, belonging to three generations. The exposition’s place of honour is occupied by the works by the distinguished representatives of the famous School of Paris that played a very important part in the formation and the spread of animalistic genre in European sculpture. Thanks to the French masters, the animalistic sculpture was recognized as an original and independent kind of fine arts in the second half of the 19th century. German, Austrian, Belgian and Russian schools of animalistic plastic art will be also represented by famous names.
The visitors of the AVEC Gallery will be able to see the highly artistic works by such famous masters as Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875), Pierre-Jules Mene (1810-1879), Emmanuel Frémiet (1824-1919), Pier Jules Moigniez (1835-1894), Nikolai Lieberich (1828-1883), and Dumitru Chipăruș (1886-1947), whose names are constantly mentioned on the pages of scientific publication and manuals devoted to the history of European sculpture of the period from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century.
The new exhibition is the continuation of the cultural and educational project of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation,” the aim of which is to introduce Ukrainian audience with works of world art from the own collection of the Foundation’s founder. Due to the fact that the exposition will include the artistic legacy of the sculptors belonging to several generations, and all exhibits are united with common topic, the visitors of the AVEC Gallery will be able to get an idea about the development of European animalistic plastic art during the period of about one hundred years – from the middle of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on September 23, at 4 P.M. at the address: 70, Sumska Str., city of Kharkiv.
It should be noted that the exposition “The Friend’s Image” would be presented before the opening of the International Dogs Exhibition “Priroda” in the Feldman Ecopark.
