The next Orienteering Festival in the Feldman Ecopark started on September 15. The festival is held under the aegis of the International Charitable Foundation “Olekdandr Feldman Foundation” within the frameworks of 1,000 Teams Tournament project.
According to the organizers, everyone is able to take part in the orienteering festival absolutely free of charge, as there are no restrictions according to age and health. The route across the territory of the Regional Landscape Park may be covered by anyone. Moreover, there will be the professional from Kompas orienteering club to help everyone to cover the route. They give instructions and provide with the necessary gear. The participant will get the topographical maps of the Feldman Ecopark and the route sheets to make the marks on each of 12 checkpoints, which should be passed. After the end of the quest, everyone, who coped with it successfully, will get an honorary diploma of the festival’s participant. The quest tours will be held on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“The Festival will end on October 16,” Serhii Biloskurskyi, the project leader told. “Orienteering is a wonderful sport combining physical and mental workload with the outdoor recreation. It is a very popular kind of sport in Europe and worldwide now. Its green and democratic, so it attracts more and more followers of healthy lifestyle. In Ukraine, orienteering also becomes more and more popular year by year. Our Festival is off and running as well. Last autumn and this spring, nearly 45,000 persons took part in it. I am sure that this time, there will be a plenty of those who prefer active rest, whose who want to cover a route in the most interesting park of Kharkiv region.”
It should be reminded that the Orienteering Festival in the Feldman Ecopark is held for the third time. It is the part of the 1,000 Teams Tournament project, which is a long-term social and sports programme of the International Charitable Foundation “Olekdandr Feldman Foundation.” It is carried out in the city of Kharkiv and in Kharkiv oblast since 2001. It is Ukraine’s first large-scale project directed at the revival of children and youth sport. 1,000 Teams Tournament is a project that unites different sports and recreational activities on the territory of the Regional Landscape Park. The Tournament provides opportunities to carry out training and competitions in futsal, ping-pong, volleyball, streetball, skiing, cycle race, cross-country run, different kinds of gymnastics, chess, and other kinds of sport.
