18 mute swans found the house in Feldman Ecopark. They were brought to Ecopark by volunteers. Earlier the flock of birds located on a reservoir near Kharkiv, at one of private houses. Owners of the lake were rather afraid that capricious swans won’t be able to get on with livestock and birds and mute swans, by its nature, will defend the territory with fight. Besides, immodest guests have eyes for master’s kitchen garden.
“According to volunteers, swans not just lodged on the private lake, they with pleasure came to the coast to try wheat. Owners had no choice but to catch birds and to move them to other place. We took animals in with pleasure. We have a spacious pond for them – the Swan lake where their relatives already live”, – the deputy director Feldman Ecopark Valery Ivashchenko told.
We will note that at the moment 27 mute swans live on the Swan Lake. Uniqueness of the place is that in this pond birds can live in the environment as much as possible close to nature. A pond with a large number of vegetation and wide spaces for swimming is at their disposal. In spite of the fact that birds returned in nature, veterinarians of Ecopark continue monitoring of the health of animals – each three hours experts make rounds of the riverside territory of the Swan Lake. Also workers daily bring grain, fruit and vegetables to birds.
We will note that transfer of swans took place thanks to activity of the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home”.
