The holiday “Happy birthday, museum!” for the children with special needs was held on May 25 within the frameworks of the museum festival “From the past to the future: the way of hope” under the support of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation.”
The event timed to the 25th anniversary of the Zmiiv Local History Museum was carried out by teachers and students of the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, as well as by the workers of the M.F.Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum, Zmiiv Local History Museum and the volunteers of the Kharkiv high school No. 14. Its purpose is the socialization of children with special needs from special schools and orphanages, and their adaptation in the humanitarian environment.
Near 50 children, the pupils from the Kharkiv specialized educational complex No. 8, and the children from large and needy families took part in the festivities. They attended excursions in the Local History Museum, where they gave their presents, which will become the museum’s exhibits. After that, the children enjoyed the holiday in the recreation center in the village of Sokolovo (Zmiiv region), which included the theatrical interactive performance by the students of the Academy of Culture, as well as quests and competitions. In addition, the children enjoyed the open-air rest, pony riding, tasty ‘kulish’ and sweets.
“The support of children with special need was and remains to be one of the main directions of the activity of our foundation,” Maksym Vodka, the director of the ICF “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation” emphasized. “It is important for the kids to have the possibility to broaden their outlook, to visit new places, to rest and to communicate.”
