Dear Compatriots!
It’s no coincidence that on these warm August days, we celebrate two wonderful and important holidays one after another – Kharkiv Day and Independence Day of Ukraine. The proximity of these dates is deeply symbolical: after all, Kharkiv with its huge intellectual, industrial, cultural and, above all, human potential is one of the most important links ensuring the independence of our country, which creates the foundations for its economic prosperity. I am sure that Kharkiv residents are the force that will always work mightily to build a free, fair, tolerant, highly cultured and smart society in Ukraine. And I am sure that we will never go off this road.
This year, our dear city turns 365. And we, Kharkiv residents, really have a lot to be proud of: its history, universities and scientific institutes, monuments and theatres. To be proud of things created by our ancestors and also the achievements of our contemporaries in various fields and, I am sure, to look into the future with optimism.
And I am talking about both the future of Kharkiv and the future of our whole country. During 28 years of its modern history, we have already gone through a lot of things, and we have made some mistakes. But we also have the main thing – the wish to move forward, to change, and to unite all our efforts for the achievement of our goals. That is why we will definitely succeed! Happy holidays!
