“Caring Kharkiv residents saved big football in our city, and we must further unite so that the truly people’s Сlub Metalist 1925 does not stop in moving forward and development. All the more, we already have positive experience in nationwide philanthropy. For example, the renovation of the Philharmonic building, the whole world raised funds for it. And what’s important – it worked out” – the Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman told the press, commenting on the third anniversary of the establishment of Football Club Metalist 1925.
“Unfortunately, it turned out that the club got second birth. It was possible to keep it afloat first of all thanks to warm hearts of Kharkiv fans, who cannot imagine their city with great traditions without big football. Raised funds all over the world, entrepreneurs didn’t stand aside, whole enterprises assisted. The revival of the club is our common tribute. Therefore, I will note that county governors mustn’t take credit for another man’s work and seek publicity at the expense of other people,” – Mr. Feldman stressed.
He noted that the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation,” as well as the Concern AVEC and Co take part in this process.
Both this year and not only the last one, our foundation together with the Concern AVEC and Co and partners allocated funds for preparation of Metalist 1925, and earlier on its predecessor – Football Club Metalist. These are challenging times for the Club today. All that remains is to make a suggestion, whether the election ended and somehow the funding ended either! We must unite our efforts again. As the practice shows, we cannot rely on the local authorities on this issue. There are a lot of other serious and important problems in the region, and neither the administration, nor the city council funded the Club. And they never will. Hope lies only in caring Kharkiv residents and fans of sports, – Oleksandr Feldman stressed.
Reference. Kharkiv Metalist 1925 was founded on August 17, 2016. It took the second place in the Amateur League of 2016/17 season and the second place in the Ukrainian Championship among teams of the Second League in “B” group of 2017/18 season. In the 2018/19 season, it became the fourth in the First League, in which it continued to play in the starting season 2019/20.
Kharkiv Metalist is a silver and sevenfold bronze prizewinner of the Ukrainian Football Championship, the USSR Cup winner (1988), the Ukrainian Cup winner (1992), the quarter-winner of the League of Europe of the 2011/12 season. After the 2015/16 season lost professional status due to debts of the president of the Club Serhiy Kurchenko.
