An international panel devoted to bats Kharkiv Bat Meeting will take place in the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark from 4 to 7 April. About ten scientists cheiropterous animals from Australia, Brazil, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Ukraine will take part in it. According to the organizers, the event will become a part of the Cooperation Programme between the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark and Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research.
“It is already the third international panel organized by our Centre and, perhaps, the most large-scale of all. Foreign colleagues will come and submit reports on the most different aspects of сhiropterologн: immunology, physiology and reproductive systems of Chiropterians, researches of their DNA and evolution, influence of a technogenic factor and climate changes on behavior of bats — the head of the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark Anton Vlashchenko told. — We will also acquaint guests of a panel with results of the scientific work, we will tell about unique experience of rehabilitation of rescued bats from all Ukraine in Kharkiv. We invite persons interested to join Kharkiv Bat Meeting. Registration on Saturday, April 6 to the the media centre “Vremia” (72, Sumska Str.). Presentations of speakers will be from 10 a.m. till 17 p.m.”
The panel of Kharkiv Bat Meeting will come to the end with traditional release of bats which will take place in Feldman Ecopark on April 7. In the territory of the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex the opening of a special enclosure Bat Collider be held as well.
It should be reminded that the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark is a unique animal protection organization not only for Ukraine, but also for entire Eastern Europe. Since its establishment, it rescued more than 12,000 bats, all species of which are in Ukrainian Red Book. The rescued and rehabilitated animals are returned to the nature. In particular, a record number of bats – 2,500 animals – were released to the nature in Feldman Ecopark.
