An injured stork was brought to the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue \u201cFeldman Ecopark Good Home.\u201d It was found on the route between Kharkiv and Krasnohrad by a caring driver, who called to the animal advocates. The latter brought the bird to the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex. It was immediately given to veterinarians. They had to amputate the injured wing. Now, the feathered patient is under the care of professionals. Its state is stable, however, the crisis is not over yet. The specialists emphasize that it is too soon to say that the bird will definitely recover.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe stork\u2019s wing was almost completely torn away supported only with a shred. The injury was not fresh, as it already contained parasites. It was necessary to remove everything and clean. Moreover, the bird is very exhausted. Apparently, starved and was thirsty for some time. We make everything possible to make it recover,\u201d the head of the department of birds in Feldman Ecopark Volodymyr Perekhodovych told. \u201cThe stork already started to drink water. We hope it will soon start eating fish. If everything is fine and it recovers, we will settle it on the Swan Lake together with the other water birds.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the specialists of Feldman Ecopark, the injury could be caused by poacher\u2019s shooting. The shot broke the wing\u2019s bone, and the injured bird had to wander on the ground deprived of the opportunity to fly and hunt.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were no chances for the stork to survive \u2013 it could die from exhaustion, tissue necrosis and sepsis, or even to become a helpless victim of predators. Thanks to the caring people who rescued it (they did not pass by and brought it to the specialists, who rendered the competent assistance), the sad story of an injured bird can have a happy continuation,\u201d Volodymyr Perekhodovych noted.<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that the Swan Lake is a unique natural complex for water birds that exists in Feldman Ecopark for two years. Here, on one of the Three Lakes, more than a hundred of birds \u2013 swans, pelicans, storks, ducks \u2013 live under the care of animal keepers. The part of them was rescued and undergoes rehabilitation thanks to the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue \u201cFeldman Ecopark Good Home.\u201d<\/p>\n
It should be also reminded that this June, a couple of storks, living on the Swan Lake, gave birth to a baby. These birds have been also rescued from death earlier by the volunteers, who brought them to Feldman Ecopark.
