16 little Kuhl\u2019s pipistrelles have been recently brought to the Feldman Ecopark Centre for Cheiroptera Rehabilitation. This species of bats may be often found in the cities living near the people. The head of the Centre Olena Prylutska told that the little ones were brought from the village of Solonitsivka (Derhachi region).<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the repairing works in one of the high-rise buildings, the workers fixed a crack on the house\u2019s fa\u00e7ade. It turned out that a colony of bats lived there. It was revealed when the bats started to go out of the crack on the other side of the wall \u2013 the adults appeared first, and the owners released them immediately. The next day, the little ones were found there. The caring people carefully gathered them and brought to our Centre,\u201d Olena Prylutska told. \u201cIn the wild, these kids (with only several centimeters of size) are just not able to survive without their parents, and, of course, we took them under our care. We will feed them with milk formulas till they learn to eat insects without assistance and fly. Then, they will be released to the nature.\u201d<\/p>\n
She noted that it is the first time for the Centre to have this number of bat kids in rehabilitation at the same time. \u201cLast year, we successfully reared one little Kuhl\u2019s pipistrelle and returned it to the nature. I hope that we will be able to cope with this \u2018kindergarten,\u2019 that it will be possible to rear and \u2018put them on wings\u2019 safely,\u201d Olena Prylutska emphasized.<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that in the end of May, the one-winged common noctule female, which was brought to the Feldman Ecopark Centre for Cheiroptera Rehabilitation by volunteers from Ternopil last autumn, gave birth to two kids. There are nearly sixty bats, which need care due to their health or age, are currently under the care of the Centre\u2019s workers.<\/p>\n
It should be also reminded that the Feldman Ecopark Centre for Cheiroptera Rehabilitation is an animal protection organization, which is unique not only for our country, but also for the whole of Eastern Europe. During five years of its activities, it rescued nearly 10,000 bats, all species of which are in the Red Book of Ukraine. The rescued and rehabilitated animals are returned to the nature. This year, a record number of bats \u2013 2,500 animals \u2013 were released in Feldman Ecopark.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
