The birds feel fine in their new home, and the visitors to Feldman Ecopark are already able to see them among the other tropical birds in the enclosure opposite the brown bears. The laughing kookaburra is among the largest representatives of the Alcedinidae family. Their body length reaches half a metre, the wingspan is 65 cm, and the weight is 500 g. The bird\u2019s name was given for a distinctive sound resembling human laughing. With the help of these loud calls, they communicate with each other. They are especially loud-voiced in the evening and during the mating season. Although the natural habitat of kookaburras is restricted to the forests and woodlands of Eastern Australia, New Guinea and some neighbouring islands, the \u201claugh\u201d of these birds is so distinctive, that it is often used in movies for the reproduction of a \u201cjungle sound,\u201d even if the scene takes place on the other continent.<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that the animal collection of Feldman Ecopark includes more than 1,600 birds. Among them are exotic, rare and the red-listed ones. In April, the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex carried out the traditional release of birds. 1,000 pheasants and more than 1,200 Eurasian siskins, common redpolls, forest canaries and other songbirds were released to their natural habitat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
