The specialists of the Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation took part in the international workshop devoted to equine-assisted therapy, which was held in Zhytomyr. It was organized under the initiative of the International Animal-Assisted Therapy Association together with Zhytomyr Medical Institute and was held from April 25 to May 1. During the week, the participants of the workshop shared their knowledge, learned the experience of foreign counterparts at theoretical and practical lessons and discussed the current state of equine-assisted therapy in our country.<\/p>\n
The heads of psychological and medical services of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Tetiana Aliieva and Inna Vashkite told that the workshop gathered the practicing international experts in the field of equine-assisted therapy, the representatives of German, Georgian and American schools, who arrives to share their experience and demonstrate the peculiarities of different approaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe lessons were divided into theoretical and practical parts. They included the analysis of equine-assisted therapy in the world and in Ukraine, the study of the information on anatomy, biomechanics, diagnostics and correction, which is necessary for the work of an equine-assisted therapy specialist. The representatives of foreign schools demonstrated their best practices and shared their experience. For example, the representative of German school, equine-assisted therapy specialist from Austria Ursula Dietz told about the method of German physiotherapy in the process of equine-assisted therapy, about the method of Bobath therapy during the equine-assisted therapy lessons in Austria. We, in turn, told about the activity of our Centre,\u201d Tetiana Aliieva told.<\/p>\n
During the workshop, the participants actively discussed the issue of integration of the methods of equine-assisted therapy into the course of the treatment at the state level.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe matter is in making equine-assisted therapy the part of treatment for children with CP, musculoskeletal disorders, pareses and paralyses. The study of foreign best practices allows making the conclusion (and it was an important result of the workshop) that there are all grounds to talk about the formation of the national school of equine-assisted therapy with its regional centres. It should be noted that the Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation is a leading organization in Kharkiv oblast, which practices the methods of equine-assisted therapy,\u201d Inna Vashkite emphasized.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that the Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation was opened in 2013. It implements more than ten health-improving and adaptation projects aimed at the assistance to children and adults, including the families of IDPs and ATO veterans. The activities are based on the complex application of different types of animal-assisted therapy and landscape-therapy united into a unique method \u2013 ecotherapy, developed by Kharkiv experts. During five years of its activity, the Centre rendered assistance to 6,300 persons, including 1,900 children. The specialists of the Centre also carry out the research and methodology work, provide training for the future psychologists in Feldman Ecopark, and give training lessons for social workers, who deal with ATO veterans and IDPs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
