The specialists of the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation of Feldman Ecopark Anton Vlashchenko Victor Kovalyov, Igor Tovstukha and the Centre’s volunteer Kseniia Kravchenko participated in the All-German Conference Conference on Chiropterans (Deutsches Treffen fur Fledermausforschung) which took place in the city of Heidesee near Berlin.<\/p>\n
The specialists of the Centre presented two posters with the results of unique scientific research, part of which was carried out jointly with the German scientists.<\/p>\n
“The first work is devoted to difficult and unique immunity of chiropterans. Bats are viral disease resistant animals, and the mechanisms of their protection against disease-causing agents haven’t been fully explored yet. The unique immunity of chiropterans is also connected with longevity of these animals. The work performed on the basis of the Centre is the first work on Cheiroptera immunity in Ukraine” \u2014 the head of the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation of Feldman Ecopark Anton Vlashchenko told. \u2014 The second poster, the multi-year trend analysis of structure of common noctule winter congestion in Kharkiv was presented by Kseniia Kravchenko. The work has many methodical approaches, including the analysis of hydrogen stable isotope content made in laboratory of the Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, IZW (Germany)\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to Anton Vlashchenko, this conference has outgrown the national level a long time ago and can be treated as fully-fledged and representative international forum. It involves representatives not only from the European countries, but also from Africa and South America. In 2018, more than 100 specialists arrived to take part in it, and a considerable part of reports has been devoted to researches in Southeast Asia and Central America, working language \u2014 English.<\/p>\n
It should be remind that Kseniia Kravchenko has also participated in this prestigious international conference a year ago.<\/p>\n
The Feldman Ecopark Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation, created in 2013, became the first in Ukraine. The specialists of the Centre are engaged in rescue and rehabilitation of bats.
