The exhibition \u201cNational Musical Instruments\u201d takes place in the AVEC Gallery on November 7-8. More than 30 European, African, Asian (the Middle East, the Far East, China, Japan, etc.) bow, percussion, wind and reed instruments crafted by Kharkiv master Ihor Horbov are represented here.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe instrument production process is very long. I worked on some of them for up to 5 years. And I am dealing with this craft for nearly 15 years. I studied national musical instruments and their differences. When I create some instrument, I absorb the life and culture of the nation, I even live this life, that is why I love all of my instruments very much,\u201d Ihor Horbov tells. \u201cThey look like traditional instruments, but they fundamentally differ from them: I try to broaden the range of options for a musician. For example, last week I finished an instrument that I call \u2018sarosen.\u2019 It looks like a traditional Japanese shamisen.\u201d<\/p>\n
The visitors to the exhibition are able not only to look at the European hurdy-gurdy, Yakut tambourines and many other instruments, but also to speak to their creator, to listen to his stories about the collection, about the instruments and their origin, and even to become the listeners to the ethnic music mini-concerts. The first of them, which included Indian sitar, Turkish ba\u011flama, drums, flute, took place at the opening of the exhibition on November 7. The other performances by Kharkiv musicians will take place during November 8. According to Ihor Horbov, a spacious and light atrium of AVEC Gallery is remarkable for great acoustics and atmosphere and is perfect for similar meetings.<\/p>\n
