A large family of artiodactyles of the Regional Landscape Park has been enlarged with the representatives of breeds uncommon for our location. Among them are three females and a male of European mouflon, and three males and twelve females of Racka (Wallachian Sheep).<\/p>\n
\u201cOur visitors are already able to look at the new residents in the animal world of Feldman Ecopark. The animals are two years old and older. They have undergone all of the necessary veterinary procedures. They are healthy and feel themselves fine in their new home,\u201d Feldman Ecopark\u2019s deputy director of zootechnics Valeriia Ivashchenko told.<\/p>\n
The European mouflon is the last representative of wild rams in Europe. The natural population of this breed reduced only in the mountains of the islands of Corsica and Sardinia. However, subsequently, they were spread across Southern Europe. The males\u2019 body length reaches 1.25m and a height is up to 70cm. They have large curved horns up to 65 cm long, and their red-brown coat becomes darker in winter. The females are a little smaller, lighter and as a rule have no horns.<\/p>\n
The Racka (Wallachian Sheep) originate from Hungary. The unique feature distinguishing it from the other congeners is the long spiral-shaped horns with the length of more than 60cm resembling the horns of the markhor. Adult males weigh up to 60kg, and females weigh 40kg. Long coat of these animals can be off-white or silver-black. The Racka are calm, hardy and fertile animals.<\/p>\n
