Recently, the new inhabitant (white raccoon dog Freiya) lodged in the Regional Landscape Park Feldman Ecopark. Here it was brought by the Kiev the animal protection worker Evgeniya Prokopenko. In summer, the woman redeemed a 2-month-old puppy from a fur farm in Russia where these small animals are bred in large quantities for the sake of fur. Freiya lived in Evgeniya’s house until it grew up. Then the animal protection worker decided to decided to give it to our \u2018good hands\u2019 \u2013 to the Feldman Ecopark Good Home”.<\/p>\n
“My Freiya lives in the Feldman Ecopark now! I say this with tears in my eyes but these are tears of joy that the animal doesn’t become a fur coat and it will be happy with its relatives, common raccoon dogs, it will sit in the sun and sle\u0435p blissfully in winter!” \u2014 Evgeniya Prokopenko wrote on her Facebook page.
\nWhile the fluffy beauty settles in the new place and stays on quarantine, the cozy enclosure where it can hibernate is already preparing for it. A raccoon dog is the only species of canines for which the nature provided the hibernation mode.
\n“The doggie is healthy and already vaccinated. Our veterinarians carry out all procedures necessary in such cases \u2014 inspect and take analyses. In few weeks an animal will settle in the enclosure where the visitors will be able to see it. Freiya will live near the raccoonlike fellows, but yet alone \u2014 Feldman Ecopark\u2019s deputy director of zootechnics Valeriia Ivashchenko told. \u2013 This girl is still the only snow-white representative of a species in Ukraine. We will note that white color of a raccoon dog is an artificially graded mutation. Such individuals don’t meet in the nature, they are bred only on fur farms, but even there these dogs are rather rare.<\/p>\n
It should reminded that volunteers and animal protection organizations often bring to rehabilitation of animals salvaged from training hunting centers and trade farms to All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue \u201cFeldman Ecopark Good Home\u201d. Here several raccoon dogs, silver foxes, badgers have already found home. During the period of Feldman Ecopark Good Home existence more than 22 thousand animals were saved, about 5 thousand of them are wild and exotic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
