A little Indian leopard was brought to Feldman Ecopark from one of Ukrainian zoos within the framework of the exchange programme. It is a very long-awaited event, because the little panther Noir (black leopard), the favourite of the visitors of the Regional Landscape Park, has now a girl-friend with a colouring, which is traditional for this species of felines.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe little girl is 3.5 months old, and they are almost the same age with Noir and belong to the same species, although having different colouration. We wanted to have a couple of leopards with different coloration in our animal collection \u2013 the black melanistic one and the classic one with spots. We hope that when the apex predators grow up and become adults, they will have kids of different colouration as well,\u201d Feldman Ecopark\u2019s deputy director of zootechnics Valeriia Ivashchenko told.<\/p>\n
The new inhabitant of the Regional Landscape Park is staying in quarantine now, where it undergoes adaptation and rehabilitation, and gets used to the new home and new caretakers. The girl is very sociable and playful, and a worker of Ecopark is always near the animal. The visitors are not able to look at it right now, but the quarantine will end the next week, and the animal will take its place in the enclosure. In the mornings, when there is no one in the territory of the zoo, the new one is taken to the enclosure, where it meets Noir and plays with it gladly. The new leopard is fed with the food, which is common for the little representatives of felines \u2013 meat, fish, eggs, cottage cheese and vitamins.<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that there are more than 20 animals of 10 species of felines in Feldman Ecopark. The kid of black panther named Noir according to the result of voting on social networks arrived in Ecopark in the beginning of summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
