Lemurs, squirrel monkeys, marmosets and a tamarin which, for various reasons, couldn’t coexist in the group lodged together in one of the Regional Landscape Park’s enclosures where they perfectly get along and will accept one more relative soon.<\/p>\n
A\u0441\u0441ording to Olga Prokopova, the head of the ape sector of Feldman Ecopark, it may be considered as a rehabilitation open enclosure which contains five species of primacies: three ring-tailed lemurs, four squirrel monkeys, crested bare-faced tamarin and two monkeys \u2013 white-nosed guenon and de Brazza’s monkey.<\/p>\n
“The ring-tailed lemur became the first inhabitant of the enclosure. The monkey was sitting alone all the time, it was apparent he was very bored. So the lemur doesn’t grieve, two monkeys were placed next to him. They began to communicate and to play at once. Then the group of ten ring-tailed lemurs where the alpa female began to offend weaker females, arrived in the Feldman E\u0441opark. Two females were forced out from the group. We have also place them in this enclosure. Here they became a part of one family. Later turned out that the big cozy enclosure was freed for them, the decision to add a group of squirrel monkeys and one tamarin has been made. Now inhabitants of the enclosure live as solid, big and amicable team” \u2014 Olga Prokopova says.<\/p>\n
According to the zoologist, under natural conditions the habitats of these animals don’t coincide \u2013 lemurs live only in Madagascar whereas the homeland of squirrel monkeys and a tamarin is South America; marmosets came from the Central Africa. The animal’s diet differs therefore they are fed separately.<\/p>\n
In the nearest future the enclosure will be replenished with one more inhabitant, a ring-tailed lemur female, who arrived in the Feldman Ecopark from Israel last week.
\nIt should be reminded that the ape collection in the Feldman Ecopark is the largest in Ukraine. It comprises more than 200 monkeys of 30 species. In total more than 2000 animals live in the Regional Landscape Park.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
