Two females of the rare species of lemurs \u2013 red ruffed lemurs native to northeast Madagascar, found home in Feldman Ecopark. The red representatives of lemurs are two years old, and they are preparing to appear before the visitors of the Regional Landscape Park.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are the first red ruffed lemurs among the animals of Feldman Ecopark. They are currently in quarantine. Nevertheless, they are very sociable, friendly and playful. The visitors to Feldman Ecopark will definitely like them. It will be possible to look at these exotic and beautiful animals in spring,\u201d Feldman Ecopark\u2019s deputy director of zootechnics Valeriia Ivashchenko told.<\/p>\n
Red ruffed lemur is one of the largest species among Madagascar lemurs. They weigh 3.5-4.5kg, their body length is up to 55cm and tail length is up to 60cm. The single habitat of the red ruffed lemurs is Masoala National Park located in northeast Madagascar, the rainforests of which were selected by lemurs preferring to eat fruits, browses and leaves. Red ruffed lemurs are diurnal; they live on trees at a height of 10-20 metres in groups of 15-30 animals. They have a rust-coloured fur with distinctive white patch on the neck, while the forehead, breast, tail and legs are much darker. Due to the fact that they are living only on the territory of about 4,000 sq.km., the red ruffed lemur is the endangered species, which is in the Red List.<\/p>\n
Now, the collection of Feldman Ecopark includes 17 lemurs of different species. The total of over 200 primates of 30 species (more than anywhere in Ukraine) is living in the Regional Landscape Park.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
