The exhibition of Cossack and samurai weapons, and also Cossack signet rings Cossack foremen \u201cThe warrior\u2019s way \u2013 one for two\u201d\u00a0 from the private FELDMAN FAMILY MUSEUM collection opens on December 23, 2016 at 15:00 in the Lviv historical museum (Arsenal Museum) at the following address: Lviv, Podvalna St., 5.<\/p>\n
The visitors of the Arsenal Museum will have a great opportunity to get acquainted with the exhibition exposition where about 80 objects from a museum collection of famous collector and patron Oleksandr Feldman and also exhibits from the Lviv historical museum’s collection are presented. Among exhibits there are invaluable relics of the Cossacks \u2014 next to sabers, yataghans, knives, daggers, spearheads and tips of bear spears\u00a0 and \u2018becs de corbin\u2019,\u00a0 as well as decoration symbols belonging to the leaders \u2013 pernachs, shestopyors, silver belt, and signet rings dated to the middle of 16th \u2013 the beginning of 18th centuries. These things gained sacred meaning: they were heritable and turned from family relics into historical symbols of our country.<\/p>\n
The Samurai section of the exposition included the skillfully adorned ancient swords and other weapon forged by the best Japanese masters. The Samurai sword is considered sacred. The code of samurai ethics \u2014 bushido (a way of soldier) is a basis of education of each boy in Japan. This is the embodiment of the patriotic ideas, courage and devotion to the people. Each of these unique objects is interesting as a weapons artwork, and as a heraldic attraction, as a rarity related to the destinies of certain people, historical figures, and the past of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The exhibition provides an opportunity to compare these different from the first sight sociocultural phenomena and military traditions \u2013 the Cossack and the Samurai. However, this unexpected comparison helps to understand and to assess own cultural and historical heritage, to see it in the context of global history, to acknowledge the imperishable significance of moral values \u2013 courage, honor, patriotism, and self-sacrifice in modern Ukrainian society.
