There weren’t birds of this breed that are much larger than an ordinary peacock and differ in interesting coloring in the Regional Landscape Park before. The peacock appeared within the program of free animal exchange between zoos.<\/p>\n
“The green peacock’s feature is emerald color of plumage. These birds who in the nature live in Asia meet significantly fewer than other congeners, – the deputy director Feldman of Ecopark Valery Ivashchenko told. \u2013 The Ecopark’s newcomer is being placed under quarantine, but already soon, after passing of needed veterinary treatments, the visitors will be able to get acquainted with this beautiful bird. The peacock feels well, eats grain mixes, vegetables and fruit”.<\/p>\n
The green peacock except of greenish coloring of neck and a breast differs in the fact that the cop on his head doesn’t spread out like a fan – it consists of the feathers pressed to each other and forming a dense high batch. The male’s length – 180-300 cm, wing length – 46-54 cm, tail length – 40-47 cm, loop length – 140-160 cm. The peacock’s weight is about 5 kg. The bird lives in the nature at the height up to 900 m in Java, Indochina, north-eastern India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, West Malaysia, Thailand and southern China. Its number considerably lower than an ordinary peacock, in the second half of the 20th century the area and number of a species was considerably reduced. Green peacocks easily get accustomed in zoos and coexist with other pheasants without any difficulties; however, males can be aggressive while protecting females.<\/p>\n
